[Most certainly! ^^]
Fenton stepped into the doorway and was hit by a wall. Of smells, that is. Hope’s apartment was clean and neat, but it reeked of animals to his sensitive cat nose. His eyes blinked and his nose wrinkled for a moment as he adjusted to his new surroundings, the kitten a comfortable weight in his hand now. He sniffed and nodded as Hope said she had to feed some birds—birds? He could smell them now, yes, when he sifted through the layers of scents. Reptiles, birds, other cats and…a dog. A dog and birds. Suddenly he was hungry and nervous all at once, his feline instincts going wild. Calm yourself, Fenton thought, encouraging his human side to sort of take over. He inhaled lightly and relaxed from his rigid standstill, walking in a few step and purposefully ignoring the dog.
His furry gray ears perked suddenly at the voices. The faint, comfortable mumur of cat voices in his head. His gaze adverted to the ground, where three pairs of large, round eyes were staring up at him. He chuckled lightly as the one called Annie brushed up against his leg. They were completely oblivious to his…gift. “No offense, but that’s the attitude that keeps a cat from getting adopted,” Fenton said towards Tommy. He fell into a chair and reached down, running his hand along the length of Annie’s back. “Now Annie here, Annie, right? I think I heard that right. I would adopt her. She’s completely infatuating,” He grinned, his eyes alight with humor. “And Shelley, too. But sleek black tomcats? Too arrogant. Don’t think I’d want one of those.”

Tommy looked at the man sharply, eyes glued to him. Had he just... spoken to them?! The guy did have cat ears and tail. Maybe Hope really had brought him home to live with them? He didn't want to believe that this male was going to live with them. Already Tommy had his dander up, ears twitching back at the insults. He let daggers in his eyes. Oh yes, he already did not like this one. He could see Annie giving him a surprised glance but then a high and mighty smile as the cat man complimented her. He turned, going off to sulk in a corner. Stupid cat human person. Annie though looked up, ignoring Tommy now and giving a calculating look to the man. She didn't think he was a new addition tot heir home here. He was holding a little kitten and she eyed it too curiously before back to the man.
"So stranger... I guess you can hear us n all. Could have told us sooner than surprising us like that... Dont mind tommy though, he's just upset cause he's been passed up the last... oh, what sixteen times? Can get you down not getting adopted...Aint that right Shelly?"
Cat eyes turned to Shelly who was sitting and looking thoughtful in a cat way. She nodded, giving a 'Mhmmm' as she bumped her head on Fenton, wanting to get petted too.
((XD sorry took so long and such a short post too >_< *shamed*))

[Gahh I lost the last post so I had to retype. =/ Shorter.]
Fenton laughed. His system was slowly adjusting to the new sounds and smells. The kitten was a tiny space heater in his palm, slowly breathing with closed little eyes. He could feel the fuzzy connection of mindspeak in his head, since the kitten was so little. But when his bright, knowing gaze switched back to the three cats it was clear as daylight. His nose twitched a little as he spoke, reaching down and petting Shelly.
"Don't know how you can stand it in here," He laughed, blinking. "With that dog," He cringed visibly, a sort of half-twitch before continuing, "and that grouch, whatshisname-Tommy." At this his smile widened a little bit. He searched the entranceways into the room and perked his ears, letting the sounds flow through and deciding that Hope was far enough away to hear them, seeing as he could be comfortable talking aloud. "So, if you don't mind my asking, what's Hope like?"

Shelly purred lightly, a soft thrum in her chest that was barely audible to human ear but the animals would hear it. Annie smiled. She liked this new one, and he could understand them! How wonderful it would be to get adopted by someone who could hear you and talk to you without using that stupid baby talk. After a while baby talk must get annoying. She liked how Shelly seemed to approve of him too. Annie's attention went back to Fenton as he asked how they could stand it here with the dog and all. Tommy wasn't so bad, he just had a thing against humans. It wasn't the greatest thing in the world to be abandoned as a kitten. Tommy hadn't just been abandoned, he'd been a birthday present and too young to understand what was happening. The little kid who'd been his owner use to hurt him, grab his tail and drag him around, stretch his face, pull his ears. That was the worst, and Tommy, so young had only tried to get away till he was just sore and tired of it and had scratched and bitten the little boy. The family had put him in a box, drove somewhere and left him. It happened that way a lot. Problems with someone in the family, the animal didn't get along well with the kids, the people moved and couldn't take them. Annie looked back to Fenton as he asked about Hope but was surprised when she heard Shelly's petite voice pip up.
"Hope's an angel. She saved us, all of us. If she finds animals in need of a home she lets us stay here and finds people to come look at us and maybe take us home. We couldn't ask for anyone kinder than her."
Annie smiled. Shelly didn't talk a lot at all, but she'd always stand up for Hope 100%. Annie flicked her tail, laying down cozily and continuing on after Shelly.
"Yeah, Hope's one of a kind. Everyone here is lucky to have her. Everyone's story is different, but no matter what she'll take you in. The dog? He use to be used in dog fights. He didn't like to, but it's his life or the other dog's and if you get put into a situation like that you know which to pick. Your skin over theirs. Some animals here have been tortured, others abandoned, some were just lost and never found again. Hope cares about everybody. She loves everyone. She helps at the human vet too. Hospital? She brings presents in for the kids, and sometimes she'll even take some of us to go visit them. I dont like the smell of it, but I've gone a few times. There are some kids there that are like her, no fur or anything. It's strange, but Hope is special, we can all feel it. It's like... just being around her you feel better. None of the animals here ever get sick."
She turned her eyes to the other animals, the rabbits, turtles, cats, dogs, hamsters, snakes, everyone. No one got sick. She remembered being sick for a while before she came here. It seemed she'd been sick for a year or more, but when she came here, she started feeling better and she was cured in a day or two. Some animals came in terribly sick, they seemed on the brink of death, so bad no one would ever expect them to live, but Hope would stay up with them all night and day and they would recover. It was amazing...

Fenton smiled, throughly enjoying himself. And just to think, he could've been at home right now or at the park, completely alone. Being in the presence of company, human or not, was just the thing he needed. "Yes, there is something special about her," He admitted shyly, his ear twitching as though he was delivering the compliment straight to her instead of to her cats. He felt a tiny bit of guilt for acting up against Tommy, but really it was just harmless sarcastic humor. "So you three want to be adopted? I'd love to take you all, I live by myself. Gets awful lonely there. I don't even own a television," Fenton laughed, his fingers stroking the kitten's fur. His eyes would occasionally dart from place-to-place, a sort of second-hand army instinct. He came in layers: first hand feline, second army, and third and least prominent, his human instinct. That was the least intact at any given time and yet fully there in the background all at once. "I have enough room. My townhome is just a bit smaller than Hope's. But, still, it's up to you. I think I could only bring one of you back, not sure I could handle four roomates," He smiled.
So now that they mentioned it, he was starting to feel a little bit better. Being distracted by Hope and her animals was a good thing for him, a chance to excersize and refresh his mind from the accident. And physically, his side was beginning to feel better too, the numb leftover pain gently receeding the more time he spent in her presence.
[Haha, his dark and shady past xD Sorry, I'm having a little trouble with his character. He's too boring. He needed a little spice.]

((XD no problem *loves making characters have so many problems or hard pasts*))
((Oh and Annie refuses to be adopted without Shelly, cause her and Shelly have been together for a long time. Tommy might go with you but at first he'd be kinda distant and it'd take time to win him over. He'd be wary of Fenton for a little bit before finally being okay with him. The whole 'humans suck' thing ^_^))
Annie gave her cat smile, a lazy sort of thought in her eyes.---sheet, have to finish tomorrow, gotta go to sleep =_= g'niiiight---
