Her feet were sore. After flying for what seemed like hours out of the borders of Myrelia, she chose to walk. Nali wasn't exactly sure why. She felt as if all the blood had drained from her body. She felt weak. Her head hurt and her right hand was shaking from nerves. She really didn't want to go back. But Theo was her number one priority for this moment. After the...accident, she blacked out completely. Last thing she remembered was flying through the air and hitting the ground, and then...nothing. She went black until she reappeared with Kassidy.
Her shimmering hair fell in her face as she daintly stepped through the forest. The tall pines made her appear dwarfed in comparison, though they were just as shady. The evening was coming on fast, the air around her growing heavy with moisture as she neared the Clan.
She stopped just outside. In front of her, the stars of the huts twinkled dully. A crow took off from one of the branches. Her eyes closed and she inhaled the fresh scent. Her heart felt like lead in her chest. Tonight's occurances had been less than perfect. How could she had even begun to think that Shane would consider taking her back? Just like twelve years ago, he didn't want her to become like him. No amount of time between them would change that fact.
Nali would just have to, as she was now, face her future.
She blinked, her eyes scanning the layout of the Clan. It was near dead-silent, seeing as most of her kin were at the wedding. She was alone here. Probably, with Theo. The thought made a hard lump form in her throat when she swallowed, knowing that she felt too tired and weak to defend herself.
The crow spread its wings and flew low, coasting above the outer edge of the border. She watched it with large, sad eyes as it took off. And then a blast of blue lightning shot it down, a plummeting hunk of smoking nothingness. Theo.
She strode forward, pine needles snapping underfoot. The silence was deafening. Her ears strained for the sound of him; she hated being surprised. But Theo was nowhere within sight or sound, and it made her heartbeat lessen and her breathing even out just a bit more.
"Princess," He appeared behind her. His light eyes were threatening, his hands turning into fists. Nali whirled around, her wings pressed against her back in fear. Normally she would snap a reply back and prepare to defend herself. But she felt like she had nothing left as of now. Even though Kassidy had surged all of that energy into her, her mental stamina had run its course. All she could do was be the ragdoll she was, meant to be thrown and tortured like a disposable toy.
"What?" He grinned slyly, pushing both her shoulders back with his hands to taunt her. She stumbled backwards. "Wanna tell me what you were doing in the arms of that vampire? What you were thinking when you interrupted our king's wedding?" He knew very well that /he/ had caused the disturbance, but it was all her fault anyways. "Nali, I thought we had agreed to keeping you under control," He said through clenched teeth, grabbing her wrist roughly and running his thumb over her bracelet. "But apparently, you had other ideas."
He turned swiftly, his back facing her, his hands locked behind him. And then his head tilted slightly, his left eye glinting as blue sparks flew from his fingertips. He swiveled on his left heel, his black wings opened and he rushed at her in anger.

He had to save her. But more importantly- himself? No. Wait.. yes... Didn't he have to save himself to be able to save her? His mind rambled on, his brain on auto-pilot as he traced her origonal sent. She was so close... he could almost...taste..her? No! nononono... He could smell her. Its all he needed. He could now hear her heartbeat...
He surged thoughout the Night Kingdom. It was dark, although star huts streaked past him casing a light upon him. Shane knew her heartbeat. It was too quick. Something was wrong. He snarled in displeasement and tried to capture her sent again. It was only before he could hear a voice...
Princess.
No... no no... He swivled his head in confusement, he could hear her gasp. It was all playing out in his mind as he could hear it. He finnaly glanced over to his side. About a hundred feet away Shane caught a cold, icy glance- and an instant growl came to him. Shane snarled loudly and at a breakneck speed, caught close to the fairy.
He was lunging at her. NOBODY lunged at his fairy! He snarled, his fangs large and caught the beast in midair. His natrual fighting instincts clawed though him and he attacked the man as if it was his own prey. Wressling him to the ground, he snarled and pinned the fairy down, his eyes in a wildness, his mouth wide, his fangs huge- just infront of the man's face.

Nali stumbled back, a wide-eyed look of horror on her face. If someone had been watching the scene it would have played out like a horror movie. You know, the misty, gloomy forest, the important factor of being virtually alone, the desperately frightened girl and, of course, the monsters. But it only took a second for it to become a stilled photo instead of a moving picture.
Nali's heart seemed to be thumping loudly in her ears. Her body was stiff and frozen from shock and relief, poised in a messily unprepared position with her arms close and bent at her sides. Her breathing was heavy and her eyes frantic as she looked at the two in a deathlock on the ground. "No," She whispered hoarsely, so low that it was barely audible even to a vampire. Nali swallowed, and then inched forward, frightened that any move could set off Shane. "S-S-Shane...?" The fairy mumbled, confused and amazed and utterly alarmed but almost thankfully, and then much colder once understanding the severity of the situation, "Shane you shouldn't have come back." The way she held her head made her eyes darken and her hair fall straight, and she took another step towards them.
Theo's breathing was staggered under the weight of the vampire. Maybe not weight, since he was actually quite light...force? The force of him? Whatever it was, he had power. And the male fairy realized this as he stared up at the face of the man who could very well kill him.
And then he started laughing.
"You're not gonna kill me," He whispered, his eyes glinting. One of his hands was gripping Shane's wrist, though he made no signs of struggle. The star huts about them cast an eerie glow on his skin and made his eyes seem almost silver. "You've hurt her too much. Rid her of me and it'll only get worse," Theo said darkly, knowing that they were out of Nali's hearing range.
[Haha, I started out wanting to make Theo's character all innocent and here's how he turned out.]

Shane felt the man's heartbeat as his hand clasped his wrist. It was an oddly beautifully discusting beat. This horrible fairy. He snarled as the man laughed as he held tighter, feeling it might make him feel good if he snapped a bone or two. He knew they were out of hearing shot- and he took advantage of that. He might have hurt Nali- which he will never forgive himself- but he will not ruin everything now.
"I doubt it, if I snap your neck now she will come back to me. She loves me..."
The vampire hissed out quickly, his eyes in a glare. He wouldn't kill the man. Not right now. He narrowed his eyes, his tactics floating in his head,
"I will spare your life. In return I want Nali. And if you refuse-- We shall have her decide."
The vampire acually showed signs of amusement although nothing was funny about the matter. He wanted Nali back. He knew Nali would come back, even after the silly mistake he made... right? Right?

Theo grimaced, though his face showed no signs. His lips simply spread into a grin as he breathed, turning his head to the right slightly. His eyes looked at Nali, and he spoke up, "You heard him, Nali? He's using you as a bargaining chip." His blind-looking gaze flickered back to Shane in that haha-I'm-twisting-your-words way. "He kills me right now; he gets you. He lets me live; he gets you. You're not an object, my Princess," He spoke lower, more carefully. He was risking everything here, and he needed her to understand. "Or...he said he'll let you choose. Myself or...him. Which will it be, darling?" His light hair was brushing in wild ways about his face, his lips and throat starting to dry from the tension.
Nali stared at them both. It was hauntingly quiet except for the laboring of the two faeries breathing. Yet it seemed as though her head was exploding at this simple action--to choose. Her soft blue eyes looked at Theo, and then Shane.
And then she fell to the ground on her knees.
Simple, thin streaks formed on her perfect face from tear drops. She looked at the ground, her hands resting on her knees. She had that look about her like she had just killed someone or committed something equally as horrid and now couldn't believe or trust herself anymore. Her breaths came out short and small, and her lower lip trembled.
"Shane...if I choose you Shane, you'll love me and promise you'll keep me forever, and...." She seemed to be talking to them, but reasoning with herself, "and then I'll be so enchanted with you, but when I'm alone...I'll have my doubts. And you won't want to change me, just let me be...old. And..." Nali took a moment to control herself. "We've been through it before. It'll replay, and I'll be scarred worse than before," She said gently, another tear rolling down her cheek.
"And then Theo, my Prince, don't you see? You hurt me. You beat me and give me bruises, but none could be as bad as what...Shane...he did. And he never touched me...and you saved me. Or you tried to," She said, a shudder racking her body. "I love you. I love you both. And I hate you as well. So much..."
Her eyes grew wet again as she looked at their blurry images. Theo, so fierce and proud and protective and arrogant, but hers nonetheless. And Shane, beautiful and inhuman and her first and only true love; if only he hadn't hurt her so much!
"Theo," She began, as if she was choosing him, but continued in a low, painful voice, "I know that is hurts to loose someone. And watch them leave. But I know what you did. On those nights before I came back. With others," Nali whispered. Her heart felt like it was being ripped straight through. "And you can...continue with that lifestyle...." She choked and fell forward, sobs jolting her thin frame. Her hair draped on the ground and she closed her eyes tightly, sucking in air through her teeth.
"I DON'T KNOW!" She cried, and in a pitiful attempt, "who loves me more?" But already she knew the answer to that, and it dawned on her like rain during a drought. Suddenly the outburst stopped and she pulled herself to a sitting position. Her face was streaked with tears and her hair disheveled, and she knotted her finger together. She didn't look at them, but said quietly, "Shane."

Shane belived that even if he was being hunted by fivehundred vampires, out in the middle of nowhere-- and he was blind-- he belived that this was more suspenceful than that. Not thats ever happened before... but it was close to supspenceful even if it didn't top this. He almost broke the man's neck right there- Nali was NOT a barganing chip. He was giving her a right to choose! Shane was still as stone before he raised off the man, standing straight his eyes down at Nali. She held so much weight right now. He felt terrible. More than he's ever felt. His heart was being wrenched in two and he could do nothing about it. His whole existance was now on Nali. When she started to consider him, he nodded sollomly. He would love her more than ever. She would never be left so cold again... never. He felt hismelf tense with a pre-anger as Nali started on Theo. He touched her. What...what a sin. He dropped his face into expressionless as she mentioned that nothing could be as bad as what he did to her. This killed him to watch her carry so much pain. It was all his fault. All his fault. He wanted to reach out and hold her, but he waited. As she cried out he closed his eyes, his body relaxing, everything would be over in a few momments. He loved her more. A love that was more than just flesh. He never listened so closely to such a simple name...
When his name was whispered, Shane was still for a momment. Was it real? Had she acually said that- or was she in the arm's of her lover fairy boyfriend? He opened his eyes and looked to see nothing. She had said his name. He gave no expression, not even a glance to the male fairy. He walked foward with graceful steps, his arms gently picking her light shaking frame. She was his. He was hers. He said nothing, just kept her wrapped in the protection of his arms, his eyes not even glanceing to the fairy male. If the male wanted to fight- then a fight it would be. But he would have himself killed before having that fairy touch his love again. Shane felt himself at ease, her heartbeat would always be the most beautiful thing in his whole lifetime.

Theo pushed himself off the ground, dusting off his jacket. His eyes completely trailed off, as foggy as the world around him. He felt so much anger that he wasn't angry, or at least couldn't put up with it. He cleared his throat, his black wings spreading. "Fine. But don't expect to come back here again. Viktor's already had it with you. Once he learns your love out of our race, I wouldn't be surprised if you never see your family again," Theo said. His voice was flat and emotionless as he mulled over the fact that she hadn't chosen him.
He turned on one heel, closing his eyes and letting a shuddering breath release from his chest. Didn't matter. The b.itch was right anyways; he still had the married fairies to play with. He cleared his throat, his hands curling into fists. With every inch of his body he wished to go at the vampire again. But he wasn't a complete idiot. When it came right down to it, he had nothing against Shane.
Bitterly and ashamed and seeing as there was no hope left, he walked away.
[ONLY to return again later!! xD]
---
Nali clung to Shane, resting her head against him and letting the cold tears flow against her face. She stayed like that for a moment, her mind automatically preparing for the Release. But her fingers felt cold and stiff and they betrayed her logic, digging into him and refusing to let go. Her eyes shut tightly and her breathing slowed.
She just felt so much. Happy and joyous and sad and confused and just...good. Better than she had in quite some time, now that Shane was back. All this time she had tried to push him further and further away from her mind thinking that it would somehow cure her, when it turned out he was the cure itself.
"I need to know, Shane," She whispered into him, her eyes staying shut until she tilted her head back, and her wet eyes met with his golden ones. "I need to know that this is forever. Please," Her voice was strained and her breathing shallow, as if it all depended on his answer.

Shane senced the man go away. Good. Not that he had any real grudge against the man. All he wanted to do was snap his neck for even touching Nali in a bad way. That simple. But all he thought of was the woman in his arms. He felt utterly complete, his mind settling. Everything was perfect- even her crying. It just felt so...so right.
He listened to her if she was the only real voice in the world. He had already started to nod lightly. Forever? He didn't hesitate,
"How can I show you... I...could..."
He trailed off, looking to her pupils. He wanted to be with her forever. So selfish... but he remembered the yelling that Kassidy gave him. How dare he deny his own love-- and especially Nali's.
"I will make you a vampire. Just...not... now."
He spoke quickly before she started again,
"Nali, hear me out. You are still young-- in my eyes. You have so much to experience. Just... just be patient. I promise I will give you what you want."
He would make her a vampire. But she was just...just too young! His words betrayed his thoughts but he wouldn't lose her. He wouldn't let her go, again. His green eyes looked deeply into her's and he leaned in letting his cool lips touch her's again. It was like magic being reused. It was undefineable.

"I will make you a vampire. Just...not... now."
She felt her heart soar and then drop and then steady out to a decent level. Everything about him felt so right. And it wasn't like before, twelve years ago at Magikus. Normally at that sentence she would plunge into a minor depression, then beg him to bite her now. But, oh, the promise was enough! So what if she was twenty-eight and he was, at least on the outside, seventeen?
And then he went on about how young she was. Young?! There were fairies her age with ten year old kids. At the Clan--which, she realized, she could no longer be apart of--they gave her dirty looks because she was unmarried. Because she was /twenty-eight/ and unmarried. But then again once she was immortal young and old would not play a key part in her life.
Suddenly he pressed his lips to hers. They were cold as marble, but, but...how fantastic it was! Nali hadn't realized that he hadn't let go yet, and her mind was brimming with excitement at this. She felt her heartbeat speed up and her head spin. Her delicate hand ran through his hair and gripped it in her fist, her lips working on his, her sweet breath caressing his face as though the fact he was sensetive was long behind them. But what she didn't realize was that it was most definitely not.

The two hadn't kissed in awhile. Twelve years was alot to her... but naturally for him it only seemed like a few months. Still, he let her make the best of it. She grabbed his hair as he let his hand come gently behind her neck, the other pressing her waist to him. Her body was driving his sences wild, though resisting it had become natural to him... Could he resist long enough? He pondered on the thought before... What about if they were...were...
Shane hadn't really thought about sex. Ever. It hadn't struck him for all the year's he was with Nali. He supposed her touch was just as good. But she was..older now... and more... gah... how to say...um... fuller? Anyways, back to the subject. Sure, he'd... 'done it' before... Seriously, a few centuries...you get kind of...bored. But it wasn't just with anybody, just a little vampire chick. After everything was done, he realized that she wasn't really...his type. It was a dissapointment. But still... With Nali? The thought didn't make him feel weird... okay maybe a little bit but still. He wouldn't dare push her any farther than she'd go. Would he even be able to control himself.... Well it was getting to be quite the task now that they'd been kissing so long...
Shane let go of her lips, looking her in the eye's. Then a thought popped in his mind... He ran a hand down her cheek gently, smiling, his thoughts going wild. Should he... should he ask? Hm, why the heck not?
"Nali...have you..um.. had sex with Theo?"
Seriously. It wasn't a big deal-- to him. Even though mortals were usually all avoiding to the area of talk. But really... he was curious... He'd be very dissapointed if she...well.. had.
[XDDDD BUAHAHAHAHA omg im so sorrrry... the thought just popped into my head and i was like omg i have to have him say that cause he's like not affected by it at all xDDDDDD omg rofl]

Nali hesitated. Her lips felt sore from their brief connection, and right when things were starting to feel better he had just sprung the question on her. And what was she supposed to say? Was she supposed to lie and make him happy, or simply tell the truth? She thought of this for a second as she caught her breath, every inch of her screaming with happiness at their closeness. And then she decided that yes, she better tell the truth. Honesty was the basis of any good relationship, and there was so much she needed to know about him that could've happened in twelve years.
Her hands slid down and lightly settled on his wrists, not touching any exposed skin. She let her gaze falter from him, as if not wanting to see the expression in his eyes at her reply. "Yes," Nali said, suddenly feeling very small. Her pulse quickened and she made for an explanation before he could counter. "But, but it was...it was...that night. T-twelve years ago. And I had nowhere to go, and I just couldn't be alone. So I came back here. An-and Viktor let me stay. But my parents shut the door in my face and Darus didn't have a place of his own yet and...Theo offered to let me stay with him. I was hurt and confused and lonely....and it was only once! That one night we slept together..."
She ran her tongue over her lips. Her voice had faded out in the end and now she seemed to be struggling with something. The truth. The only problem was that in telling the truth one is often faced with the concequences that errupt because of it. And at this point, she was honestly a bit scared for Theo. The fairy wet her throat, yet her next words still came out in a dry whisper. "Well, there was m-maybe a few other times. Only they were...forced, you know. Theo is...Theo," She winced, as if thinking that was a good enough excuse for his actions. Her thighs throbbed a bit, as if reminding her of the physical pain. But he had, in his defense, taken care of her, and letting him have his way with her was the least she could do in return. "It's been twelve years Shane. I'm twenty-eight. You couldn't have expected me to say no."

By the expression on her face... he could tell. Her face was sometimes so readable, then again; she was always so complicated at times. For a few momments dissapointment strung though him. But his eyes oddly still had their touch of happyniess in them. Shane felt torn at two emotions. He was dissapointed- she'd just said yes. But she started to explain. He could understand the reaction, considering she was partly human. Her need for a wanting, a place. He could understand...right?
He was partly smiling. Why? Well he was happy for her. Maybe it was because she didn't wait. Really... Maybe he was glad for her-- for making that step beyond him. She had adjusted to a life without him. It was bittersweet.
He looked down at her softly, before rising on his feet, brining her with him (they were kneeling or something right?) He brought her close, his eyes in a content gaze,
"I know... and I couldn't love you any less."
He whispered, his eyes scanning her face. It was true. She could have bedded all the night fairy's she could find (he hoped she wouldn't) but he couldn't love her any less. It was simply a matter off natrual attraction. He brushed off the thought, still his eyes glanced off of her. Now where to go.
"Tired?"
He asked as he looked over her head. He doubted she had anywehere to live- oh well there was only one place they could really go.... Mom and dad.
[xD buaha this is gona be funnn.]

Nali smiled slightly. She was glad that he hadn't seemed too upset and that he understood. She breathed and stood up. Her legs felt shaky and her shoulders fell. Even though Shane had no warmth about him the fairy didn't feel the least bit chilly, only tired. She leaned into him, her shimmering hair falling in front of her face. "Yeah," Nali said, the corner of her mouth twitching into a little smile as her eyes flickered up to him.
[Yeah, lame I know. =P You starting a new board with them?]
