((Well, this needed to be written, but it doesn't involve any other chars so I sort of just wrote it))
The first of the uprisings came from the Light Fairies nearest to the Night Fairy borders. It was delt with accordingly, and Queen Kassidy went to see her subjects, a somber mood surrounded her as she arrived and entered the jail. Twenty to thirty Light Fairies were crowded inside of it, looking sullen, sad, or beaten up. Her presence roused them, and each of them bowed in turn. She stared at them sadly for a moment, and erected a barrier around them.
"No words said in this room will ever leave it. So feel free to speak. Actually, why don't the leaders of this little...organization, come forward." she said, her voice soft.
Three fairy's came forward, a girl dressed in yellow, and two men in green. They looked rather ashamed.
"Well?"
Finally, the oldest fairy spoke, one of the men in green, "Lady Kassidy, we-- we didn't think it was possible for you-- for you to marry-- we didn't believe the news, when it came from the palace. We thought that the scum had taken over the castle--"
Kassidy frowned, "The scum? They are no more scum than you are." she said sternly.
The man was silent, looking properly ashamed, and then spoke up again, "Certainly, your magesty...but...but then the news is true? You are to marry the King of the Nightfairy's who has slaughtered so many?"
Kassidy folded her arms, "Yes. What of it?"
There was an uneasy silence, and then the younger fairy in green cleared his throat, "We ah--- that is to say-- Do you love him?"
Kassidy smiled, her features softening, "More than anything else in the world."
There seemed to be a collective sigh in the background.
"Lady, how could you?" a furious voice finally erupted from the girl in yellow. "How could you marry such scum!" The boy next to her looked alarmed and grabbed her arm, "Grench, no! It's the /queen/!"
Kassidy shook her head, and motioned the boy in green to let go of Grench. "I love him. Why else would I marry him?" she said in an amused voice.
Grench shook her head, "You'd do it because you'd think it would help us! You'd think it would stop the war. Lady, I'd fight ten thousand wars before I'd let you marry that brute! I've seen him on the battlefield! Without his wings-- He sliced my mother open!"
Kassidy looked unhappy, "I'm sorry for your loss...but we've all made mistakes in the past...this war started because of misunderstandings between the two types of fairy's...and it shouldn't be so. Victor himself told me that the faces of our loved ones haunt his sleep after one of our more...ah...intimate moments." She made herself blush a deep red and a few fairy's in the back tittered with laughter, others simply smiled.
Grench looked furious, "I don't believe this! Lady I've told you once, I'll do it again! Don't marry him! We'll fight the bloody war, just don't marry him! He will darken the only light we have!"
Kassidy moved forward now and touched Grench's wet cheek, "Grench...I love him." her voice rang out truthfully. "I don't want you to fight in this war, anymore, because it won't fix anything from the past... We have to look ahead...and heal. All of us. Believe me when I say we love each other, and that our souls combined will only make my light brighter."
There was silence, and then Grench's brother looked up, doubt still in his eyes. Her speech was convincing, but he oculd tell Grench didn't believe a word, "I believe you, Lady. But Grench doesn't." he said hesitantly.
Kassidy sighed and stepped away from Grench, "I don't know what I can do to make you see..." she trailed off.
"Truthspell." The word came unbidden from Grench's lips, and she almost looked ashamed. The fairy's behind her gasps, and a murmur of unease from the crowd.
"You trust me so little?"
"I don't trust you because I love you, my Queen." Grench's voice came strong, and she held her hand open. A yellow light emitted from it, and Kassidy turned to look at it curiously. She could overpower it...she knew she could do it. Without a word, she took hold of the yellow light, and her eyes went blank.
Grench cleared her throat, "If you have ever felt love, which I doubt...describe what it feels like." She stared at the queen triumphantly. She wouldn't be able to answer.
The Queen felt her mind wander, and she began to formulate a shield against the truthspell but words came unbidden to her lips.
"It feels...like air. It feels like I felt myself explode in delerious happiness, like I was one with everything and everyone. It feels like every single cell was screaming with joy. It feels like I could do anything and everything. It feels like if he asked me to kill, love, hate I would do it. It feels like I know him from long before, and I can't quite remember who he is. It feels like I know where he is every second. It feels like I am standing on a tightrope one million miles above a precipice, but I am not afraid because I know he will guide me. It feels like I'm freefalling and he is my parachute. It feels like the things I knew before were dull, but he showered them with colour, and everything ordinary and normal is exciting and new. It feels like if I ever knew him to be gone, or dead, or wasted, I would simply fall away from the world, and shatter like glass into a thousand pieces. It feels like love."
Kassidy blinked as the truthspell faded, feeling slightly feint and wondering where those words had come from. Perhaps the land itself had given her the words. Still, she doubted.
Grench had turned away allready, and there were people surrounding her, hugging her, pulling her arms, kissing her face. She laughed for them, feeling confused and unsure of herself. Where had those words come from?!
Grench sat in the corner dully, letting tears of sadness trickle down her face. To be in love with a knife! And the queen had thrust it into herself! She didnot want that fate for the Queen! But if it made her happy. She burried her face into her knees and made herself invisible. Her poor poor Queen. And there was nothing she could do to help her.
