The breeze brushed against the bareness of her dark skin as she draped her clothing over a nearby branch. They were recently washed and dry as she felt the smoothness against the skin of her hand. Her eyes closed and she took a deep breath of the fresh air, walking a few steps away from where she left her apparel and towards the shore of the lake.
Ethereal prepared herself for the chilly water, covering her breasts with her arms as she sauntered forward into it. She felt goose bumps on her skin, and exhaled as she arrived at the waist-deep point. A fish swam past her leg and she scowled. But not even the drawn lines of her lips and the furrowing of her eyebrows could extinguish the woman’s beauty, as the stood alone in the lake in the woods.
[OoC]- Open to anyone. Haha, how more pathetic can a thread get? I didn't know how to start her. xD

Okay, so maybe he shouldn't have driven three hours out to this godforsaken lake to relax, because it hadn't done him any good to be on the highway for three solid hours without bringing his music. In the traffic. Asher was not a happy camper. He stomped over to the edge of the lake, took out a smooshed BLT sandwhich and unwrapped it unhappily. And he'd forgotten his book. It was lucky he was having a mini vacation otherwise he'd have exploded during work. The LPD thought that he was overexerting himself-- which was true. Last time he had chased that punk Jude he'd used too much of his power, rellied on it... then again, with Jude, he had to.
He sighed, munching on his sandwhich, then nearly choked on the bite, coughing loudly as he noticed a figure in the lake. F.uuuck. He sighed, put his sandwhich down and got up. "Excuse me!" he called out, squinting at the figure. As soon as his eyes adjusted he turned bright red and covered his eyes. She was naked. She was naked. And beautiful. No, Asher. Shut up. "Ah-- ma'am, you shouldn't swim in the water-- There's leeches, and lake eel at the bottom of the lake." he managed to say, feeling heat and embarassment radiate off of him. "And water nymphs that'll trick you--- you know..." he trailed off, embarassed, "I'll just...turn around...so you can...get out...and get some clothes on." he mumbled, doing so.

[Ooc]- Haha, nice post. =D
A small sound emitted from the woman. It was like a shriek or a yell of surprise, but it was cut off half-way by silence. Her body disappeared completely, suddenly, like she had just melted and become one with the water. Though it was unfortunate for her that she had her limits; one could see the ripples of her invisible self when she moved.
Two golden yellow eyes peered out at the back of the man who had startled her. He seemed friendly, not at all a threat. Still, one had to be careful in situation such as this. Just the other day a man who had "seemed friendly enough" ended up trying to force himself on her. Needless to say, his body was somehwere at the bottom of the lake she was currently apart of.
Her raw form moved silently to the water's edge, preparing herself to blend into the ground, when she spoke. But her voice did not come from one certain direction, as it had no body to be apart of. So it echoed, strong and quiet and beautiful, around the clearing of the lake.
"What is your purpose here, in my bathing place?"

"Oh jeez, I'm sorry-- Listen, are you one of those water nymphs? I didn't mean to uh-- To intrude. And I don't want to take a swim...or be drowned. I just came here to relax--" he cut himself off, the tips of his ears turning bright red again. "If you're a water nymph I'm sorry for uh, intruding. Wasn't my intention. I came to-- you know--" Asher stopped himself again, profoundly embarassed. How could he have thought it was a normal human? From the way her voice echoed everywhere it was obvious that she was some sort of...creatue...thing. A very pretty-- shut up, Asher. "I was-- I was just gonna warn you, that is, I thought you were human so-- I meant to say, I mean, I've heard of people getting sucked down to the depths of the lake-- and eaten...by people--- er, creatures such as yourself. Which is um...is fine, I suppose...it's uh...the way you do things..."
Jeez Asher. You're really messing this up. "But it uh-- it's probably not very pleasant to some unsuspecting um...young woman." he finally finished formally, feeling hot with embarassment. He was usually fine in professional situations-- but out here, in the quiet, near the lake, with the knowledge that he had just seen some sort of naked godess, he stumbled over his words, apollogizing for crimes he hadn't yet committed, as well as for ever having layed eyes upon the girl in her original state.
"I--uh...I'm deeply uh--" Disturbed? "Sorry, for um...for intruding. I've got a...a bacon Lettuce Tomato sandwhich if you uh...so you don't...y'know...eat me." Did water nymphs /like/ blt's? He knew they liked to eat people but did they like bacon? "If you try to eat me I'll be forced into um...action...Listen, I'm really sorry about this--" he apollogized again, squeezing his eyes shut. He was chattering. Asher, stop chattering.

She felt herself laughing, laughing at this man. Quietly, Ethereal slipped from the water to ground. She had not mastered transitions all the way yet, so if one looked close enough, they could see the flash of her body for a split second. And then she was the ground, moving through it like silk until she reached the branch where her clothes lay draped.
Her hand materialized and pulled her clothes to her invisible self one garment at a time, until she was clothed. And then, like something from a man's nightmare or dream, she materialized from the earth. Her brown hair was long and dry, her dark skin slightly oily looking. Her cloak shadowed her face so that the only thing visible was the haunting glow of her amber eyes, and each boot as she took a step forward.
"I am not a nymph."
Her voice was no longer inhuman, now that it belonged to something. It was beautifully harsh and cold and wicked all at once, as she took a step behind him. Her fingers brushed the yellow stone that rest on the nape of her neck, and then down to the hilt of her dagger. She had to be prepared, no matter how curious she was.

Asher yelped fantastically when the earth spat her out and she stood in front of him, in all her mystic glory. He held a hand to his heart, staring at her, his mouth open. She spoke, and allthough her voice had less of an echo to it, it still carried magic in it. He closed his mouth, gulped, and opened it again, trying to form into words what his mind was thinkig... but his mind wasn't thinking, which was exactly the problem. "Oh." How he managed even that short vowel was beyond him, and she walked behind him, he froze, turning around slowly so as not to alarm this odd...being, he supposed.
"So uh--" He cleared his throat, felt like he should be bowing, or perhaps sacrificing chickens to her, "So uh, what exactly um...what exactly are you?" he questioned wearily, his grey eyes on her own golden ones. "No-- No disrispect meant, of course." he added hastily, scratching the nape of his neck, which was prickling oddly. He didn't ask her name, because it was quite common for faes, or creatures of the sort to get offended when asked their real name. Apparently, names held much power. He didn't like secrets, even secret names, but he let the fae have their way.
He'd rather be uncomfortable not knowing their true name, than have his house burn down again. "Are-- are you human?" he asked cautiously, and suddenly blushed again, guiltily this time. The subconcious snapshot he had taken when he'd seen her naked figure had rushed through his mind again. "Er...no disrespect meant with that either." he added, avoiding her amber eyes this time with embarassment. Again, common knowledge that some fae's considered humans inferior. His stomach quivered nervously and he chanced a peek up at her face again, wishing he had the comforting solidity of his gun at his hip.
But noooo. He had decided he had wanted a relaxing vacation. Some vacation this was turning out to be!

She laughed. This was enjoyable, this man. He was so nervous in her presence that it made her feel...powerful. She ran a finger along his shoulders, biting her tongue to keep from enjoying the pleasure too long. To touch another human, even so brief, after being alone for so long...it was enough to drive her crazy.
Ethereal then stopped and took her hand away, pausing a foot or so behind him. One hand still remained on the dagger on her hip. The other fell limply to her side. Her eyebrow raised, though the gesture couldn't be seen through the shadows her cloak was casting.
"You are correct, I am human," She said, though paused to take in the effect, "but for one who means no disrespect, you certainly are disrespectful."

Her laugh sent goosebumps up his arms and he rubbed them surreptitiously, and then froze when she put her finger on his back. As she ran it along his shoulders he turned red again, willing himselt to run...but he felt spellbound. Besides, if she was a fae...running from her would create more problems than it would solve. She stopped behind him and he turned slowly again, cringing at the movement. The place where she'd touched him still felt cool.
With the announcement that she was human, he breathe a little easier...though not much easier. She may claim that she was human... The woman commented on his disrespect and he turned crimson yet again. "I'm SO sorry! I really-- I just thought-- Tourists come out here all the time, and their children-- I've hrea stories--!! I really meant nothing by seeing you na---" His eyes widene and he covered his face with his hand, squeezing his temples. "I apollogize for how ah...rude that must have seemed, but I really did mean it...there are water nymphs that would pull you down faster than you could ummm...blink. Which uh...which explains my weariness towards you."
He kept his back slightly hunched and his head ducked a little, as his insides crawle. He hadn't meant to see her unclothed! Asher had best intentions at heart! Really! It was an added bonu-- NO. No it wasn't. "I'm so sorry..." he mumbled, wanting to crawl under the ground in shame and embarassment. "M'names...M'names Asher, if you want to report me." he said miserably. This was just not his week. "I work at th'...th'police station...Asher Yates. 'sall you have to tell 'em... That I did...I saw--" he looked completely and utterly dejected. "Truly I'm very sorry. I-- I'll go turn myself in-- I didn't mean to look in on you I thought you were-- in danger." he ended lamely. His mind shoute at him that it was all just excuses. He half wondered if he should offer her his BLT again...

She laughed darkly. And, amazingly, she found her hand lifting from the hilt of her dagger, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. And she didn't replace it. She didn't feel the need to. It wasn't like others; she felt as though she was in no immenent presence of danger. He didn't wish to hurt her, only...to stammer at her beauty. Her lips parted into a little smile. Perhaps she would play on his nerves, then? A man such as hisself couldn't be completely broke, after all, and she was always open for another swidle.
"If they pulled me under, I would kill them," Ethereal spoke softly, gently resting her hand on his shoulder. It was warm...so warm and nice and real! She blinked and cleared her head of such thoughts. She must focus on the task ahead. On, perhaps, pulling a wallet from his pocket with her serene fluidness and without his notice. "And you should not turn youself in, Asher Yates," She smiled, walking a full circle to come in front of him. The right half of her face shone out of the darkness by the way she tilted her head.
"But how noble of you. My name is Ethereal," She placed one hand on her chest and bowed a little too deeply, her other still resting on his shoulder. She swept back up. "It is a pleasure to make the aquaintance of one such as yourself. May I ask, what is a bakon letus toe sandwhich?" She turned her head slightly, playfully, not knowing she had been confused with the name. She never learned to read or write, and from this was not good at picking out unknown words.

For a voice so clear and smooth like honey, she spoke of terrible things, and a small worried frown appeared and then vanished from Asher's face...She didn't mean it, he was sure. The woman touched his shoulder and he blinked, turning slightly rosey cheeked again. He hurried to make sure his face was normal again when she was in front of him and introduced herself as Ethereal. A soft half light shown on her face, making it glow. "Are you sure you're human?" he asked suddenly, feeling bewitched, and then turning pink again.
"Sorry-- sorry. I uh...A Bacon Lettuce Tomatoe sandwhich it's um...it's not a toe...a tomatoe..." seeing her apparent confusion he tried to phrase what it was, "It's a vegetable-- well, no, that's wrong. It's a fruit, but it's not sweet so...umm...and it's red, and lettuce is like...a leaf, only...I guess it kind of tastes like water, which is why I've never really liked Salads. But it's fine on a Bacon Lettuce Tomatoe sandwhich because it makes everything sort of umm...moist...and uh...nice." You're rambling, Asher. He shut up abruptly and then smiled nervously, "You've really never had one? You can have mine, if you wan't. It's my favorite type of sandwhich...seems a pity that such a pretty--- uuhhh...It seems a pity that uhh...that you havn't tried one--" he stopped, sucked in a breath, "I'llgogetthatforyounow."
And then he fled. Towards the sandwhich. Asher was half afraid she would disappear if he left her too long (allthough he wouldn't admit it), so he came back as fast as he could. To his intense relief, she was still standing there. The half bitten into sandwhich nearly fell out of his hand as he held it up to her and he caught it with quick reflexes. "Sorry. Here...you can...you can have it--" he paused when his stomach grumbled and then looked slightly guilty, "Actually I mean, you can still have it but-- uh...could I have a chunk? I drove all the way out here to um...for peace um...and I uh...was going to read my book and...I had the sandwhich and I'm kinda hungry but I do want you to taste it." He tried to slow his words down, but nothing seemed to want to stay in his mind, and he felt like he was babbling incesantly. Stop talking so muuuch!!!

She felt herself smiling. Smiling. Other people did not have this effect on her. They did not make her warm inside. They did not make her laugh. They did make make it so easy to, to...put on a show of affection. It was almost as if it were real. This man, this Asher Yates, made her feel differently. He made her feel...not so lonely.
She was starting to feel bad about her intentions to rob him.
Ethereal cleared her throat lightly. Her amber eyes never left him as he went to fetch the sandwhich and was back again--much more quickly than she expected--to where she stood. Her legs crossed as she lowered herself to the grass, straightening her back in a formal posture her mother taught her. She eyed him, the food, him, and then with a small, silent sigh of defeat, she gently pushed back the cloth of her hood.
Her full hair fell away from its barrier and cascaded down her back. She ran her long brown fingers through it once as he fumbled, pulling some of it in front of her face to provide a screen of comfort. It was nice to be protected, especially when she put herself out in the open like this.
She reached forward and took the smallest corner from the sandwhich. It was too big for her. From living in the wild, she had learned to ration everything she ate. Her stomach couldn't handle a lot of food anymore, and this resulted in her thiness. Some called it a disease. She called it life. So Ethereal took the little piece of bread and lettuce and bacon and tomato and sniffed it timidly, then put it into her mouth and chewed. She swallowed with a little bit too much effort and shoved it back towards him.
"It is good."

As they sat down and she removed her hood, Asher nearly dropped the sandwhich again, and he watched her long curtain of hair tumble down her back in awe. How did one keep hair so tidy when it was that long? If he had thought Ethereal was beautiful before, it was nothing towards what he felt now. Awe was the closest word that described it. She was wild. Asher felt like an explorer, trying to coax a beautiful animal out of a cave...he tried to keep himself from staring at her,and shook himself when she put her hair up as a shield between him and her. There was a little twinge of disappointment in the back of his stomach, and he ignored it uneasily.
Finally she reached out to take some of the sandwhich. He frowned slightly, "That's...that's all you want?" he asked, his eyes swiftly looking her up and down. She was strong, but too skinny... "Are you sure? I can spare some more...I'm not that hungry." he lied. When she seemed disinclined, he wolfed the sandwhich down greatfully, feeling his stomach come to rest. "So...so what um...what are you doing here? Not-- not that you have to tell me...I just uh...conversation... uhh-- uhh, you know. Haha. I could always talk about my police work but not many people are interested in that." he let out a short nervous laugh.
It wasn't /technically/ a lie. But he didn't exactly volunteer information about his personal life. "Not many people like policemen. I think it's an um...an honorable profession, I guess. I guess I like to help people. They need to be helped. People, I mean. They're pretty messed up. I mean, I guess I'm messed up too but...oh haha, I should shut up now. Back to you. Sorry, sometimes I focus um...focus on myself--" he cut himself off and smiled at her sheepishly, drawing a finger to his lips and pretending to zip it. 'Go ahead,' he mouthed, a tinge of a blush touching his ears.
He tried to keep himself from staring yet again.
